Trying to Learn to Dance with the Stars

Testy footage of Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani TRYING to work together in the studio. Learning is front and center the problem here as they both bring up over and over and over again.

Kate knows she's not getting it (just watch their performance together in the second half for proof of that), but can't explain to him what she needs. Tony feels no need to change his method, especially since she can't tell him what to do differently.

While it would be great if Kate could clearly explain what she needs, she's the student trying to learn something that doesn't come naturally and in no position to know how to do this. You'd think that Tony as an experienced dance instructor would have more in his teaching bag of tricks.

He's committing the classic mistake of teaching people that way that HE learned. "Worked for me; I'm an expert. Should work for you." And when the student fails or complains, his response is "Pay attention to my teaching." In other words 'My teaching is great. You're a lousy student.'

In Teaching 101, Tony gets an 'F'.
